The Story Of My Beat Producing Journey
When I was kid, I’ve always idolized DJs and the songs they make, and thought maybe I could be one as well.
A few years past, when my family finally bought a laptop and a monthly internet plan, I thought maybe this is the time. I got so curious and I tried searching on google: “What software does DJs use for making songs”.
There is only two results that can remember, but it was Ableton Live and FL Studio. I tried both of them and ended u falling in love with FL Studio since it was easier to use.
Originally, I love listening to EDM songs by artists like David Guetta, Martin Garrix and others. Also to “Dubstep” like what Skrillex, Zomboy, OMFG, make. I know my parents and other elders doesn’t like listening to it, especially it doesn’t have lyrics, they hate it because it’s just noise for them. But for me, it is heaven right on my eardrums, I don’t know why.
That was the genre I originally wanted to take path with. Unfortunately, I was still a dumb kid, and does not know how to engineer sounds like what those DJs does.
But then I found an alternative, the O’ mighty “Trap” genre. Originated from the 808 Drum Machine invented during the year 1980. It was hated back then because its sounds are so far related to the rock drums, but now, it’s used for almost all of the modern songs.
So why did I fall in love with Trap?
It’s because it only needs 2 or 3 groups of instruments to sound good, those are Melody which are commonly made with lead sounds. Rhythm which carries the chords and harmonics. And most importantly, the Drums, should be 808 Drums or at least sound alike.
Trap are easy to produce, unlike EDM which you really need a wide knowledge on sound design because relying on presets doesn’t work really well.
So here’s a sample of my music, I’ve uploaded to Youtube. There are a lot of my beats who are not uploaded yet, It’s because I plan on uploading it with Lyrics, so I can finally call it a proper song. Please wear headphones if you can, and enjoy!
